Subpar Treats

Sesshomaru absentmindedly crunched on a peppermint-swirled candy cane as he watched the same movie from two days ago. He couldn’t understand why every time the Christmas holidays start, there was nothing good on T.V to watch. It was always Christmas specials.

“Sesshomaru, can you stop eating the candy for the kids?”

Kagome sat on the floor, gift bags surrounding her. She had all sorts of knickknacks to give to the family, a lot of things.

“I don’t understand why you are filling the bags early, you have plenty of time before Christmas.”

“Sesshomaru,” Kagome started with a slight giggle. “It’s better to get things done earlier than at the last minute, now give me the bag of candy canes.”

Sesshomaru handed it to her, after grabbing a handful for himself, ignoring the squeak that came from Kagome. He bought the damn candy, he might as well have some.

“At this rate, I’m not gonna have enough.”  Kagome mumbled to herself, digging through the plastic bag and shifting the boxes around to grab the candy.

“I assure you, you have enough.”

Kagome gasped. “Sesshomaru! There’s only two left!” In her hands were two candy canes, both which were broken in half in their wrappers. “I can’t believe you ate them all! Give me the ones you just took.”

Sesshomaru reluctantly handed her the ones in his hand, all were broken after he hastily grabbed them from the bag. He didn’t dare to move as there was a pile of crinkled plastic wrappers right besides his hip, and if Kagome saw, she would throw a even bigger fit.

“You know what… you need to buy some more.”

“You have plenty to give to them right in your hand.” He didn’t understand why he had to buy some more if it was only for five kids and there was enough in her hand to give one to each.

“I’m not giving subpar candy canes to them!” Kagome held one of said canes up. “Look at this! It’s broken into three parts! These are not prefect!”

“They are going to eat it either way.”

Kagome glared at him, arms crossed. He scoffed, feeling annoyed.

“Fine.”
