Evergreens and Lights
Sesshomaru glared at what used to be a wreath. He hoped Kagome wasn’t planning on him touching the filthy thing. It was covered in spider webs and he wondered how that happened. He thought it was supposed to be wrapped up with the other decorations, away from any bugs. The fake evergreen leaves were actually falling off and the ornaments and red bows were dull. It didn’t look like a wreath anymore, it looked like a giant cotton ball.
Kagome came from behind him, resting her head against his arm. “You know… you’ll have to pick it up sooner or later.” She merely commented after a minute of silence.
He gave her a slanted look. “There’s spiders on it.”
“I don’t like spiders neither, but I’m not about to touch that.”
“So I need to touch it?”
Kagome lightly patted his arm, “Um yeah.” She wrapped her arms around his waist, giving him a little side hug. “And we need to buy a new one.”
“We don’t need one.”
“Yes, we do.” Kagome glared at him, looking extremely frightening at that moment. “What’s Christmas without a wreath?”
Sesshomaru wanted to scoff, he had a feeling Kagome would continuously say that for every item they didn‘t have. “It would still be Christmas.” Unfortunately, he thought to himself.
Kagome pouted, her arms releasing the tall man and placed her hands on her hips, shifting into her you-better-do-it stance that became infamously popular since he married her. He wondered briefly why he was letting her dominate every discussion and then thought about the cold couch.
“Fine.”
Later that day, the old wreath was thrown away after using rubber gloves and a shovel, and a new wreath hung on the door, more gaudy than the last with twinkling lights interwoven between swirling ornaments and large, velvety bows.
Sesshomaru darkly glared at the fallen evergreen leaves gathering on the doormat.
He unfortunately picked a lived one.
