An Off-White Christmas by UnknownRandomness

False Reparations Lead To A Sense of Foreboding

Prompt: Elves

Word Count: 332

Sesshoumaru blinked as a powerful shiver skittered up his spine, the vibrations causing the fine hairs on the back of his nape to rise as if he'd stuck his finger into a power socket. The feeling had completely caught him unawares, and he had paused in his walk, other pedestrians maneuvering around him skilfully, laden with overflowing bags of presents.

About to resume his journey, the daiyoukai continued to linger in place as he eyes were drawn to an unusually tasteful display in a shop window, advertising a Santa's Grotto, asking for children to volunteer as the elves. Any child who participated got any item from the store for free! the poster claimed. Normally allergic to anything that was even remotely related to Christmas, the daiyoukai couldn't help but feel his cold exterior melt just a little as he looked through the store window. The Kagome he knew as a child would have immediately jumped at the opportunity - not so that she could have a free present, but so she could meet Father Christmas. Perhaps, he was just kicking the golden goose by resisting her obvious love of the event?

With a definitive mental head shake, Sesshoumaru resolutely made sure that little treacherous thought was figuratively buried up to its neck in cat shit. There was no way that he, Lord Sesshoumaru of the Western Lands, Son of the Great Inu no Tashio was going to surrender. Definitely not unwillingly and never ever willingly; he was a champion, and champions did not become such by giving in due to consideration of the other person's feelings.

Kagome was undoubtedly planning her next attack after receiving his gift, but he would nip that flower in the bud by getting her back first.

Dragging his golden gaze away from the advertisement, the inu continued walking. No, he strode down the street, confidence radiating off of him in waves.

If every Christmas provided such refreshing challenges as this one, he would gladly participate every single year.
