An Off-White Christmas by UnknownRandomness

Total Warfare Leads To Utter Betrayal

Prompt: Angel

Word Count: 526

Sesshoumaru sighed, thinking of Kagome's victorious grin and the horrid stench of 'Ralph'. It was clear that she had enjoyed his suffering, the sneaky little minx. If it were anyone but her, they would have found their heads separated from their shoulders for such cruel behaviour. It was his own fault for loving her so much.

Thank goodness it was the weekend so that he could finally relax (and plan his next horrible event for the miko). Perhaps he would give the kitsune a call? Ah, but his mate was home; if she overheard his deviousness that would be the end of him sleeping in his own bed. Well, he would just have to visit the carrot-head then.

Deciding on the safest course of action, the inuyoukai speedily donned his shoes and coat, checked that Kagome was still unconscious in bed and then made his way to the door, anticipating some nice, old-fashioned pranking-planning with the tricksiest person he knew.

He had just turned the key in the lock when a thought occurred to him. He didn't know why it had, perhaps he just had a feeling, some kind of clairvoyance which told him; go and take a look at the Christmas tree. Just one little peek, you know you want to take a look at the finished product.

Following his intuition into the front room, Sesshoumaru's jaw fell open at the sight of the glittering, green tree that seemed to emit happiness and memories of laughter. He had never celebrated Christmas before, and yet, seeing the tree, their tree proudly erected in their home made his breath catch in his throat. It was actually... beautiful.

Until he caught sight of an addition he most definitely had not put on the fir. A star had been at the top of the tree when he had finally fixed the lights after Kagome blew them a couple of weeks ago, but now, now there was an ugly, squat and obese figure perched at the peak, acting as an angel. The problem was not that it was gross, nor was it the fact that the star had been replaced, no. The problem was that the fugly little doll was clearly modelled after him.

It's long silver wig was matted with dirt, the fringe cut as if its hairdresser had been blind-folded, the facial stripes and crescent moon were drawn messily in lipstick and crayola respectively, not to mention that it was clothed in nothing but a scandalous lime green bikini; totally unbefitting the season. It ruined the effort he had put into dressing the damn plant in the first place!

Fists clenched, blood dripped onto the carpet as his sharp talons pierced the flesh of his palms. Resisting the urge to storm upstairs and demand an answer from Kagome- which he knew would not be forthcoming- the demon turned his back on the monstrosity currently hurting his eyes, and raced out of the apartment, forsaking his car in favour of demonic speed.

He and Shippo were going to be very busy for the next few hours. And then, Kagome would see that he was most definitely not an angel.
