Before the youkai could do anything more than gape at the reindeer blocking the hallway, Kagome popped her head out from the kitchen and waved cheerily at him - well, as well as one could wave with scissors and paper in their hands. Sesshoumaru watched as the miko placed the objects in her hand on the small table at the end of the corridor, walked around the animal with a pat to its flank and then pecked him on the cheek, a huge smile on her face. 

"Good news! My tongue is completely back to normal now, so I can go back to work tomorrow. Isn't that a relief!"

Sesshoumaru looked from his mate to the deer, back to his mate. She was looking up at him expectantly, giving no signs that anything weird or totally abnormal was currently happening right in front of them.

"Kagome... What is this?"

Her blue eyes lit up and she stroked the large horse-like animal tenderly before stating,

"Him? Oh, this is Ralph and he is Sango's. She's helping out at the local nursery for the Christmas season and they're going to have a Santa's Grotto with this little fellow here. Isn't he lovely? Funnily enough, I was just making paper-snowflake-chains for the decorations; and since you are free, you are going to help."

Her tone brooked no argument, but the inu couldn't find it in him to care, too fixated on why Sango's reindeer was in their apartment. 

"Yes, but why is it here?"

"Because Sango had to go out for the evening and she couldn't leave him unattended, so I agreed to look after him for tonight. I hope the smell isn't affecting you too much. But you're brave- you can manage just for one night, right?"

The teasing lilt in her voice and the sparkle in her eyes spelled trouble. Narrowing his eyes at her, the demon chose to remain silent and just followed his cheerful mate into the kitchen to help her with the snowflakes. She had most definitely won this round.
