Out of My Way!

Prompt: Cyan – (adj) Of a bluish shade of green.

Kagome blinked, unsure of what had just happened. 

She had been walking... Yes! She had been walking away from the well having just emerged from the structure... And there had been a presence, a demonic presence that had been familiar and then...

She was here. Wherever here was. 

The young woman blinked, trying to discern something among the weak light filtering from what she assumed was outside. Vague shapes that looked like a pile of rocks came into view - which made sense, considering the ground she was lying on was most definitely dirt and the smell of earth permeated her senses, along with the musky scent of- wolves. 

"Kouga? Did you bring me here?" Kagome wracked her brain for the names of those two lackey's who were always tagging along after the ookami. "Ginta? Hakkaku? Are you there?"

A growl reverberated through the dark space and she flinched, startled and nervous. Slowly sitting up, the time traveller realised with a mild jolt of panic that her ankles had been bound together. Drawing in a deep breath, Kagome spoke with false confidence,

"Who is there and why are you keeping me here against my will?"

No response was given, and Kagome yipped when a moment later, she was being dragged by the collar of her shirt along the rough cavern floor until her captor tossed her unceremoniously outside, the bright sunlight temporarily blinding her. With great difficulty, the human female managed to make out her kidnapper and her eyes widened involuntarily at the sight of a young, fiery-haired wolf youkai with eyes of a magnetic cyan that were glaring daggers at her.

"I am Ayame, Kouga's future mate, and you are the little whore that has somehow managed to get in the way."

Kagome just stared at the demoness, utterly nonplussed. What was happening...? Kouga was to be mated and she was a problem?

"I... I don't understand."

The miko winced at the tremor in her voice. Hopefully Ayame hadn't picked up on it. The sinister smirk that sketched across her attractive face instantly killed that small comfort. 

"Please, just let me go, Ayame-san. I haven't done anything - Kouga is most definitely going to be your mate and I have no interest in him, so please, may I return to my friends?"

A sour expression momentarily replaced the smirk across the wolf's face before she spoke, her voice bitter,

"You may not have an interest in Kouga, but he definitely has an interest in you." Abruptly, her grin returned, an unpleasant expression which highlighted her sharp fangs. "So, you see, human, I'm not going to let you go, because while you're around, Kouga isn't looking at me. So, if I remove the distraction, everything will be good again!"

The scared young woman choked back a gasp. Inuyasha would come and save her, and then everything would be good again. Everything would be absolutely fine because Inuyasha would save her like he always did, right? There was nothing, nothing to worry about at all!

But as Ayame stalked towards her, bright eyes and razor sharp fangs glinting in the sunlight, Kagome knew that there would be no one to save her now.
