Leave Behind That Which Is Unnecessary

Prompt: Kismet - Fate or destiny.

Word Count: 332

"Why?"

Sesshoumaru looked at the miko disinterestedly, tightening his grip around the half-breed's throat. Were all humans this irritating? Her repetitive begging had been grating on his nerves as he had dispatched of the void child and the wind witch. No, her companions weren't as insufferable and one could argue that Rin's presence was actually quite... pleasant. Her large eyes stared at him, irises shaking as saltwater welled in the corners of those annoyingly persistent eyes.

"Because you and your friends have outlived your usefulness. This Sesshoumaru is simply erasing those whose existence is unecessary."

The woman's face paled and she reached out towards him, her hands grasping for the arm choking off the hanyou's air supply.

"Please stop Lord Sesshoumaru... We're your allies... We helped you defeat Naraku... We have our lives to return to, and you will never have to see us again! Just don't hurt him!"

Aggravated by her constant whining, the inuyoukai dropped his unconscious half-sibling unceremoniously. Who did this human think it was, to presume to give him orders? Such behaviour would not go unpunished.

"You should have given some thought to your argument before opening your mouth, ningen. I am youkai, the lord of these lands and I will not stand for your incessant babbling. This allegiance was tenuous at best, and this one had always intended to rid the world of the slight this hanyou has on my name. You could say that it was fate that brought us together and destiny that you should die by my hand. It is an honour far above anything you deserve, Kagome Higurashi."

A glimmer of hope flashed through her eyes as he said her name, but it was quickly extinguished as he wrenched her head violently, relishing in the crack of her spine and the tearing of her delicate flesh.

Dropping the offending object, the Western Lord turned back to the still form of Inuyasha. His demise would come later, when he was conscious to enjoy it.
