After the incident tonight she had returned to her lonely apartment and promptly been sick. Why would she think up something so horrible? It caused Kagome to doubt herself, was she finally going crazy?

 For the second time she considered suicide and then immediately berated herself for being a coward, what had happened to the once fearless girl who faced down murderous demons on a daily basis?

What would her friends think if they could see her now, falling apart just because they couldn’t be at her side?

They would all be so disgusted with her! The girl she saw reflected in the mirror wasn’t the courageous miko that they had called their friend, and she wondered helplessly what had changed her so.

‘Ugh, I am completely pathetic’ Kagome thought to herself. She knew it was unhealthy to live in her memories this way, but she honestly didn’t know how to stop.

Maybe this party Eri, Yuka, and Ayumi were dragging her to would be good for her after all. It could be the start of a new chapter in her life; maybe she would finally be able to find her place in the present.

Desperately trying to nurture this new tiny burgeoning hope Kagome went to bed looking forward to her lunch date with the girls later in the afternoon.

Though she had fallen asleep somewhat optimistic for the day to come, her dreams were plague by nightmarish images and the heart wrenching sounds of her friend’s anguished cries begging for her to help them.

Their screams of agony were still ringing in her ears as she awoke shaking and drenched in sweat that morning.

Her nocturnal terrors had an almost vampiric effect upon her, she felt drained and lifeless numb with shock and fear, tears streaking down her cheeks as she thought once more, ‘what is happening to me?!’

It was then that she glanced down at her shaking hands and noticed for the first time the inflamed claw marks encircling her wrist, the angry red slashes a stark contrast against her pale skin.
