Sesshoumaru's introduction to the modern era: Halloween by *~*Missy*~*

II: Obon

Sesshomaru made arrangements and within the next two days they were in front of the bone eater's well.  Kagome smiled and sighed and gentle sigh.  She was so happy that he was coming home with her, he could meet her mother, brother and grandfather and she could spend some time with him in her era.  She never knew what was down the road and what could happen, so she wanted to cherish this time, both with him and her family.

She grabbed his hand as she told him they would have to jump through the well, he wanted to pick her up but she had refused, explaining the well would deposit them safely on the other side, after some encouraging he finally relented.  When they appeared on the other side she began to climb up the ladder there was there only to be picked up by him as he jumped to the top.  Show off.  She thought to herself but couldn't help smiling.

They were assaulted with hugs, even Sesshomaru, when she came inside.  Her mother had always been a particular fan of Halloween and she was thrilled when Kagome had returned to her for the holiday.  She was surprised when someone other than Inuyasha had come with her.  They had had to deal with her grandfather throwing sutras, powerless though they may be, at Sesshomaru and she silently thanked him for his patience.  She explained her and Sesshomaru's situation, that he was her soul mate and that they were intended to be mated.  Her mother and grandfather had both accepted it surprisingly well.  She quickly invited Sesshomaru to sit down as she set about making some of her favorite seasonal tea.

After some conversation she asked Sesshomaru to accompany her to her families burial grounds, located just to the north of the shrine.  When he asked her why she had responded that there was a custom in which to honor ones ancestor's spirts called Obon.  She came here every year with incense and prayed before her ancestors and particularly her father's grave.  Sesshomaru nodded and was quite most of the way through but she felt that he shared an understand with her.  It occurred to her that he now thought of his father and those he had lost along the way.  She smiled at him as they walked back to her home, thankful to have such an amazing demon in her life.
