I Drive Your Truck by Sessoughara
Chapter 1
A/N I don't own Inuyasha and the song I Drive Your Truck belongs to Lee Brice. Haven't wrote anything is awhile and this song has been stuck on my mind for months, lol. As of now all my other stories are on Haitus til my muse decides otherwise.
He knocked on the door of the house that he comes to at least once a week since that terrible day. Its a routine, that to some may seem outragious.. but to him this is something that he does to make the pain he feels not go away, but make it ease just a bit.
A long black haired lady holding a baby anwers the door, like she does everytime with a smile. She also knows this helps him out just like she has her way. She hands over the keys and closes the door. Holding the keys tightly he makes his way to the garage that holds the one possession he refused for anyone to give way, like the other things. With a smirk like grin, he put the keys in the ignition.
Eighty-Nine Cents in the ash tray
Half empty bottle of Gatorade rolling in the floorboard
That dirty Braves cap on the dash
Dog tags hangin’ from the rear view
Old Skoal can, and cowboy boots and a Go Army Shirt folded in the back
This thing burns gas like crazy, but that’s alright
People got their ways of coping

They never really got along when they were little, even being half brothers didn't help their relationship. He held a grudge for so long towards him cause he blamed him for something that wasn't his fault nor had any part in. When he got older and he came to him and said he was getting married he asked for him to be his best man, saying that he wouldn't have anyone else at his side on the day of the start of his new life. He wanted to decline, but felt pride in knowing he looked up to him, even through all those hardship years.
I leave that radio playing
That same ole country station where ya left it

When he made the annoucement about joining the Army, even though being married for a short time came to a shock to them all. He said it was something he had to do, to prove his worthiness. Deep down he knew it was his fault his brother felt like that, all those years of torement..

Making his way slowly back the garage to put everything back to its original place, tears run down his face. He knows he has made alot of mistakes and the biggest one was not being the best big brother, but doing this for him makes the guilt and pain ease just a bit. It won't bring him back, but his memory will always be there. Making sure everything is fixed, he makes his way back towards the house. Knocks on the door, and the same lady answers this time no baby, but tears streaming down her face.
He hands her the keys, says Thank You and walks away. Before closing the door, she does something she hasn't done in the three months he has been gone she yells "Sesshomaru!" He turns around and waits for her to finish.
She wipes her tears and continues "Inuyasha never resented you, he loved you even though he was too stubborn to admit it. He was proud to have you as a brother and you gave him the courage to join."
She walked down the stairs a few and says "He sent me a letter addressed to you a few days before I got the telegram. I know me keeping it was selfish, but I didn't know what to do."
He takes the letter and replies "Thank you and I don't blame you for keeping it. I wasn't ready to read it yet. Fate has its way of helping us out."
With a smile she nods and walks back into the house. He looks at the letter and decides to wait til he gets home to read it. Dialing his wife's number, he starts to his car.
He makes it home and goes straight to the couch to sit next to wife, who is patiently waiting for him to open the letter he called about before making his way home.
He stares at the envelope until he hears his wifes voice "Sweetheart, open it and see what he wanted you to know, must be important if he addressed just for you."
He nods and starts to open the enevlope, careful not to tears it he takes the letter out. Opening it, his eyes come to to a halt as to what's inside.
His wife smiles, having a feeling she knows what has alters her husbands attention. He takes out the contents and reveals a photo. A photo of him, his wife, his brother and his wife. It was a trip they all planned a few weeks before his brother got deployed. Unknown to him, tears start down his face, he's still staring at the photo. His wife decided at that time to take the letter and read it aloud.
Dear Sesshomaru,
I know we haven't really gotten along through all these years, we are closer them when we were little, but we have our ups and downs. I never blamed you for anything that happened between us, it was only natural cause of under the circumstances I would have done the same if the roles were reversed. I know I have never said these words to you face to face and probably never will, you know us Inu's we are stubburn. I just wanted you to know that I love you and I am proud to be your little brother. Give Kagome my love and I better get a letter back saying that you guys are finally starting a family. You know how badly I want to be a Uncle. I wish you well and I will see you all soon. And Sess, watch over Kikyo and Sesskun for me, you know how she worries.

Closing the letter she sobbed, rubbing the now 3 month belly. She knew how badly he wanted to be a uncle. He noticed the distress his wife was in and started rubbing circles on her back to calm her. After she was calm he tells her "He is here in spirit, he will see his nephew."
Always knowing what to say to her she smiles and nods. They spend the rest of the evening rememebering him.
