Best I Never Had by Aviel

Stigma

Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me, and a nod of recognition goes to the creator of this challenge.

A/N: None. :)

Chapter 3: Stigma

Sesshoumaru glared down at what remained of his arm. He growled when the disgusting stump glared right back. The loss of his flesh caused such an imbalance in his being–caused him to feel alienated within his own body. It was aggravating.

His pathetic half-brother had managed to wield the Tessaiga and lopped off his limb with sheer luck. It shouldn’t have been possible with Inuyasha’s nonexistent skills with a blade. But that girl… Somehow, she had brought out the best in the whelp and gained his protection.

Protection…

The voice of his father echoed in the deep recesses of his mind: Have you someone to protect?

He hadn’t known it then, but this had been another one of the Inu no Taisho’s tests–one he had failed on his path toward supreme conquest.

If even Inuyasha had found the correct answer, then… Perhaps taking the brat’s woman was the first step.
