Unnecessary Consequence

Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me, and a nod of recognition goes to the creator of this challenge.

A/N: Thanks for reading! :)

Chapter 13: Unnecessary Consequence

Jaken was dead.

Rendered into two halves, the imp’s corpse was eerily silent–a complete change from his usual squabbling and other such nonsense. Though it was a welcome relief to his sensitive ears, Sesshoumaru weighed the overall usefulness of his deceased retainer against his unwarranted death. Jaken, he grudgingly admitted, was loyal to a fault and was Rin’s caretaker.

Whom else would look after the girl in his absence? The little youkai had yet to retrieve a proper guardian for her, which was unacceptable.

The daiyoukai’s hand flexed over Tenseiga’s hilt.

Kaijinbou had no right to cut down his vassal.
