Shifting Gears

Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me, and a nod of recognition goes to the creator of this challenge.

A/N: Having two jobs can really keep one busy But here’s the next entry anyway! :)

Chapter 11: Shifting Gears

He needed a blade.

At least… One that could actually cut something. Tenseiga wasn’t as useless as he had initially thought, but its nonexistent destructive power was no match for his father’s other fang. And though he was certain he could avoid it, he required more than a fail-safe like the Sword of Heaven if he was to face the Wind Scar again. Twice… Twice, the Tessaiga allowed Inuyasha to escape defeat and thwart his attempts to possess it…

It was becoming an annoying occurrence.

Totosai would regret his decision of denying him a weapon. As such, he would search out the swordsmith’s former disciple and have him forge the sword instead. If he refused… No. Totosai’s name would be enough incentive to get Kaijinbou to do his bidding. A verbal threat on his life would be pointless if he decided to kill him anyway. So, why bother alerting the latter of his intentions? Kaijinbou would only be a tool; he could be easily disposed of, and thus, wouldn’t deserve an explanation for his impending demise. Not like anyone ever got a warning first, that is.

In any case, a casualty or two fit into the Western Lord’s plans quite well. He knew that success was never possible unless there were a few sacrifices along the way.

And he was more than willing to do whatever it took to get what he wanted.

A sword, a woman, and complete reign over the world?

It wasn’t too long of a list…yet.
