Average Joe

A/N: Everybody is human in this story and it takes place in the modern era. Each drabble will be exactly 250 words long and updates might be sporadic. Wanted to try something new so we'll see how this goes. It's rated M just to be safe. Anyways enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own the series Inuyasha or its characters.

Chapter 1: Average Joe

He was a maintenance worker, an employee to Higurai, a large pharmaceutical company in the heart of Tokyo. It was an average job, nothing too tedious or strenuous, and he liked it. It paid the bills and that was all that mattered. And also the workload wasn’t too much stress on his left arm.

Climbing the ladder reaching to the flickering light above, he carefully pushed the panel besides it and went to disable the wires with a ballast before replacing the pesky fluorescent tube. The entire time he was vaguely aware of the women stopping by, looking at him as he worked. His arm shook a bit, trembling when he twisted the tube out, his right balancing the materials from falling to the ground.

Finally finished with his task, he went down the ladder, bringing the materials with him. The women around him lingered, gazing at him. It unnerved him a bit and he thought they were being a bit rude staring at him like he was a piece of meat. But he was used to it and ignored it as best as he could. Though he was a bit embarrassed as one of the buttons on his collared shirt flicked off earlier that day, making his appearance look less than decent for work.

The show over with, the females wandered off, continuing on with their business. It was usually the same women that visited him, hoping for his attention, but none of them lived up to his expectations.
