Zombies?

Her heart literally felt as if it was stuck in her throat.

All the villagers from earlier that day, were several meters away facing the inn. In their hands were bloodied tools, some rusted swords and cruddy spears, even small farm equipments were present.

What is going on? She shakily wondered, her body immobile from the scene before her. She couldn’t move as each person gleamed at her with empty eyes, their mouths black and gaping. Their clothes were bloody and covered the grounds, and from the way the moon shone above, it was a lot.

“Save me! Someone save me!”

A little girl, who appeared to be around ten ran from behind a dilapidated hut. Her small yukata ripped and blood-laden as she grasped her shoulder, a dagger sticking out of her flesh.

Kagome gasped as a mob of moaning villagers scurried behind the little girl.

She tripped, scraping her knees it seemed, as the small girl grasped her leg and try to hastily get back on her feet again.

Are they zombies? She pondered when one groaned, snapping his jaw as their eyes seemed light.

The little girl disappeared around the corner, the horde still following behind her. She slowly inched forward, keeping a sharp eye on the group before her. Even a bit of movement, they responded to it with their own.

Okay, what to do? She desperately wanted to save that little girl, but she also had her own hide to cover as well. She wasn’t sure how to bypass this group without having all of them coming after her. Besides drowning or being burned alive counted as gruesome deaths in her mind, being eaten alive ranked right up there with them.

And she rather avoid that, she liked having her flesh whole and on her.
