            Kagome collapsed onto the bed, groaning in pain. “I have a backache.”

            Sesshomaru sat next to her, his eyes glinting in amusement as he looked down at her. “You are old, mate.”

            Kagome scoffed in indignation. “I am not old! I was tackled to the ground by four hanyou and three full youkai; my age has nothing to do with my backache. Honestly! How can you say that with a straight face? I’ll have you know I’m barely 518 years old! You’re older than I am!”

            She huffed, crossing her arms and glaring at him. She really didn’t look intimidating from her position, but she either didn’t care or didn’t recognize that fact; even after 477 years of being mated to her, Sesshomaru could never tell which it was.

            “Well!” Kagome demanded.

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow.

            “Are you going to apologize for calling me old?”

            Sesshomaru blinked. “No.”

            Kagome huffed. “You’re so mean to me. Jerk.”

            “Hnn,” he murmured, shifting and leaning over so that he could kiss her.

            She allowed him to with a fondly exasperated roll of her eyes. After a little while, she pushed him away and rolled onto her side, effectively irritating him.

            “Yeah,” she started, “not happening. Not only is our door open, my back hurts. And it’ll probably continue to hurt until you start warning me that I’m about to be tackled by seven insanely strong children.”

            Sesshomaru scowled, wondering if she’d be terribly upset if he thrashed their grandpups in a “training session.”
