Black gators slid across striate marble as he rounded the halls corner. Several servants crowded outside of the office as they tried to making heads or tails of the noise inside. Gurinman waddled through the group.

One of the floor maids whispered. “Sir, they sound pretty rowdy.”

“No worries. It’s under control. Now back to work the lot of you.” He waited until the hall cleared before swiftly slipping inside. The office looked like a storm had hit it. “What in the world happened?” Gurinman cried. He did a quick assessment of any damage in which tiny shreds of paper coated the room. Grey eyes drifted to Sesshomaru and bulged. “M-mi’lord! Why are you in that state?”

Dark wood locks were replaced by silver. Magenta stripes decorated his face along with a purple moon.

“Mi’lord?” Gurinman tried again.

Sesshomaru refused to leave Kagome’s gaze. “Did you just call this one girly?”

“If the mascara and plum eye shadow fit.”

“You should be warned I’m a high ranked demon.”

“Must be slang for queen of drag.”

Gurinman couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He watched them go at each other back and forth with insults piling one after another. “Can someone please tell me what’s going on?”

“He thinks he can scare me into becoming his wife!” Kagome placed her hands on hips and sent the demon lord a glare.

Sesshomaru retorted with a frosty scowl of his own. “Only after she threatened to take my son.”

“It wasn’t a threat, it was a promise. Maybe you should stop twisting other’s words.”

“The only thing here twisted is your facade.”

Gloved hands raked through short grey hair. “Perhaps we should start this from the top?” Gurinman formed the third point of triangle between them. “You’ll each go one at a time. Lord Sesshomaru, since this is your house you have the floor first.”

Kagome huffed but held her tongue.

Sesshomaru growled. “It started with mother. She spun a tale of our engagement.”

“Might I add without anyone’s permission? And this wimp thinks we should just go along with it.”

“There you go again. Are you not capable of forming a polite sentence?”

“Gee, I don’t know? Are you not capable of sticking up to your mom?”

Gurinman massaged his temple. “I’m well informed of the Lady’s plot… which now that I think about was probably in motion before we got here. But I’ll get into that later. What I fail to understand is what triggered this level of animosity. Surely, the tale alone didn’t do this. Of that I’m quite certain.” Time seemed to tick by slowly as he waited an answer.

Kagome spoke first. “It’s because he thinks he knows what I am, and has very little evidence if any to prove it.”

Sesshomaru snorted, “I’ve seen what I need to. Of all people to have to share blood with.”

“Yeah well, honey, the feeling’s mutual.”

“I can’t believe my son was raised by a huntress.”

Gurinman rubbed his both of his ears. “Did I hear you say Huntress?”

Sesshomaru nodded.

“Mi’lord that’s absurd. Those people have been extinct for years. I’ll admit Ms. Higurashi’s tough but the lady just doesn’t fit the bill. What led you to make such a radical claim?”

“She wasn’t bothered at all by my demon appearance. She didn’t even bat an eye during the transformation. Any other human would’ve cowered in fear.”

“Maybe in the nineteenth century. But you’ve also been showing me tricks all week.” Kagome rolled her eyes and sighed. “You’re a wizard, Harry. I’m kinda over it. So what if you changed your hair and eye color or even added a few tattoos. Unless you’re coming at me like Slenderman there’s no way I’ll ever be scared. In all honesty it’s thanks to the many books, movies, cartoons and video games out there that basic human fears have dulled tremendously. That or altered them to something else.” An alert popped up on her phone. Kagome read the text and scowled. Chosen Lover of Uppity Dames.

“Something wrong?” Sesshomaru taunted.

“A mother’s duty is never done. I’m taking a break from this pointless argument.” Kagome exited out of the room.

Gurinman shook his head and hummed. “A huntress? Really? Mi’lord, you really are too much. But this falling out couldn’t come a worse time. We need the cooperation of both of you in order to really make this thing work. Now I can definitely see where you’re coming from. Ms. Higurashi is… well different; though that’s not necessarily a bad thing.”

“Jay, she’s hiding something. I know it.”

“Everyone’s entitled to have their own secrets. It’s only a matter of time before they come to the light.” His voice lowered almost instantly. “Like Murasaki Incorporate for example. They successfully forged a new drug called M-12.”

“Were you able to find out its purpose?”

“It’s something once thought impossible. The demonic aging process can be fast-forward to completely match the pacing of humans.”

A/N: This chapter's meme was brought to you by JK Rowling's Harry Potter. In other news, I've come to the realization that I write. Really. Slowly. That means typing up 500 words, revise a sentence and delete everything else. In short this chap was hard, but at least I finally got through it. The next has already been drafted for me to re-write it from scratch! More questions will be answered then...and possibly created. Thanks for Reading!!! :)
