.

A bead of sweat rolled down his head. “Dude, for real this time I’m serious. Are you sure you’re not Ansem?”

Cloud readily withdrew from his attack. “Nope, why do you ask?”

“Because you’re using his fucking guardian.” Sho used the time to create some distance between them. “Spamming the shit out of the same moves over and over like the asshole that he is.”

“Well if someone would just take the offensive…”

“And what the hell can I do with this stick?” Sho waved the wooden sword. “Give you a splinter?”

“And whose fault is that? You conjured up everything else in this world.”

“What are you saying?” Sho blinked. “Are you telling me that all of this is just my head?”

Cloud dispatched the shadowy monster. “On a much grander scale, sure. I can’t believe you haven’t figured it out yet. What, it’s been like three days already.”

“The hell are you talking about? The sun hasn’t moved since…oh.”

“Yep. That’s right. Let it all soak in. While you were busy failing to kick my ass you neglected to add a circadian cycle. We’ve been stuck on a continuous day. And yes, we’re in real-time just in case you forget to ask.”

“Are you kidding me? I have work! What’s the quickest way out of here?”

“Well don’t look at me,” Cloud shrugged. “It’s your subconscious realm.”

“You’re the one who brought us here!”

“You’re right and I’m sorry. I let myself get overexcited. Normally I have better control. It’s just that it’s been so long since you last granted my presence.”

“Who are you?” Sho frowned.

“The thing mother fears most.”
