Cinnamon eyes gazed up at the ceiling. A lunar montage was painted beautifully across the wall. Her hand went out to the cotton like clouds. Kagome instantly thought of Sesshomaru’s hair. It was just a painting. She reminded herself. The mattresses’ blue cushion deepened. The phone found its way in her hand.  Her thumb glided over the touchscreen. Kagome sighed in relief when he answered.

“Minato…?”

“What’s wrong?”

“Why does there have to be something wrong? Maybe I wanted exercise my right as a mother to call and check up on her son.”

“And maybe your son knows that when you use his middle name something’s off.” A loud mechanical noise roared.

“What’s was that?”

“Oh, just the blender. See, I was getting tired of eating beets when I thought: Hey! Why not make it a drink? Mm. Not bad.” A mournful wail echoed.

Kagome looked at the phone “Sho?”

“Don’t worry, that was just the smoothie. But never mind that. What’s bugging you? Wait! Let me guess. You let him have it, didn’t you?”

She fell into her pillow and groaned. “Right after I threw water at him, too.”

“Seriously? Why? Talk about first impressions. You did apologize at least, right?”

“Well…”

“Go do it now. Bye.” Sho hung up the phone.

Kagome sat the device down. Ugh, what was I thinking? Her dog suddenly perked her head up and growled. Something shuffled outside of the door. “Hello?” No one answered. Kagome left the bed to investigate. Her feet pressed softly against the floor. She pushed her face to the door’s peephole. There was a swift flash of pale yellow. Delicately, she opened the door and looked, however nothing lay in the hall. But when she turned back into her room she quickly came face-to-face with gold. 

“Darling, we need to talk.”

Kagome stared at the woman and ran.
