After showing Kagome to her room he then made his way to the main study. Gurinman’s hand reached for the knob. A sweet scent immediately entered his nose. It would seem that I’m a tad too late. Delicately, he pushed open the door. “Lord Sesshomaru, I’m coming in.”

The man he sought for was behind a hard wood desk. His elbows were propped on the surface. His face remained hidden. One hand held an empty wine glass while the other rested on his head. “She really hates me,” he said quietly. “I could see it in her mouth.”

“Yes well, she is quite capable spitting fire, especially if she feels it’s needed. But rest assured my lord, the woman does not hate you per se.” Gurinman took a seat at the desk and leaned forward. “It’s more of a temperate dislike that could potentially blossom to mutual content. The request you gave was nice and could actually move you to her favor.”

“The boy will hate me as well. I know it. I make a terrible father,” Sesshomaru sighed. “It’s almost sad to say, but I’ve truly become just like him.”

“My lord, that’s absurd. You might as well be comparing apples to oranges.”

Sesshomaru blearily looked up at him. “But in the end both are still fruit.”

Gurinman rested a hand on his shoulder. “Well that may be true, but you’re here for your son now and that’s all that matters. You can’t keep blaming yourself for things out of your control. It wasn’t your fault. You’ve got to learn to take things as they are and hope for the best. Now cast all that doubt aside, you’re going to get through this.”

Sesshomaru nodded.

“Good. Now where is it? Come on, hand it over.”

He dug underneath his chair and pulled out a green bottle. The lawyer took it. “Has he made it over to my brother yet?”

Gurinman checked his watch. “Master Inuyasha should be receiving him now.”
