Ruby red nails clicked against the counter top anxiously. There had been no peace for her in the last few days. The demoness sighed.

She was an inuyoukai…how could she have forgotten? When was it that she stopped feeling like…a female; young and able?

Kogane’s shoulders dropped. No; it was not that she forgot… it was something far deeper; a more painful ache.

“I no longer have a heart to give.”

The realization was crueler than she had expected, even after so many centuries had passed. Her fear stuck to her skin still; her fear to…trust and love freely again.
