A couple more days, and she would be back. But her absence was taking its toll on me. First, I only felt a little lazy. Now, I was dispirited, emotionally beaten to the pulp. Inuyasha tried hustling me into a battle in the backyard of our house, but I merely looked at him, not really feeling anything.

My father whispered a lot to Izayoi whenever I was or wasn’t around. Inuyasha looked a little freaked out whenever I stared at him directly in the eyes. I wondered what he was seeing.

But I really did not care.

I felt… empty.
