Birthmarks by yasha012

Do You Have a Birthmark?

"You know, birthmarks are said to be where you were killed in a past life," Kagome said conversationally as she sat down next to her love under the tree.

"Ridiculous," he replied, not looking up from whatever scroll he was reading.

"Do you have a birthmark, Sesshomaru?" she asked innocently.

He looked at her.

“No.”

“How would you know?” she asked. “You can’t see every inch of your own skin.”

He didn’t reply, so she continued.

“Your back, for example. You can’t see your back.”

“I’m well aware of that fact,” he said, returning to his scroll.

He could feel her staring at him. Finally, he looked up again.

“What?” he asked, feeling slightly annoyed.

He watched as she shifted uncomfortably.

“It’s just that… Well…” she muttered uncomfortably.

He sighed.

“You want to see, don’t you?”

She smiled guiltily.

“Yes.”

He sighed again before setting down his scroll and standing up. He carefully undid his armor and slipped off his fine silk shirt. Like always, Kagome was awestruck by his body, especially his chest. Without a word, she also stood up and began her inspection. She checked his arms first. Nothing but smooth, flawless skin there. Next, she checked his torso. Same thing. Then she circled behind him to inspect his back. She pushed his long, silky hair aside. Nothing. With a sigh, she went back to her spot and sat back down. When he was done redressing, he joined her on the ground.

“Satisfied?” he asked calmly.

“I guess,” she said.

“You seem disappointed,” he stated.

“Only sort of,” she replied.

“Why?” he asked.

She shrugged.

“I don’t know. I guess I just wanted to see if there were any flaws on that perfect skin of yours.” she said.

“Like a birthmark?” he questioned.

She nodded.

“As far as I know…” he said thoughfully, “demons don’t have birthmarks.”

“So they’re always born with flawless skin, huh?” she asked, smiling goofily.

He returned her smile, if only slightly.

“Not neccesarily,” he replied. “You’ve seen Inuyasha.”

“That’s true,” she said thoughtfully. “In one area it’s pale, in another it’s nearly brown, and so on and so forth.”

There was silence for a moment.

“What about you?” he asked, looking her.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“You asked me,” he said, “if I had a birthmark.”

She blinked.

“Now I’m asking you the same.”

She smiled at him.

“Yes, I do have one,” she said. “A small red dot on my shoulder blade. It’s right on the spot where where one of the fake Inuyasha’s claws cut her.”

She smirked at him.

“See? The stories are true.”

He growled and wrapped his arms around her both possessively and protectively.

“What?” she asked, hoping that they weren’t in danger or something.

“You will never be killed again,” he said simply, tightening his hold on her.

With a smile, she leaning in and kissed him. Perhaps Her previous death had been a good thing. After all, it allowed her to be here with him now. What more could she ever want?
