It was nightfall by the time Kagome finally stepped out of her room. She cautiously looked around to see if Roctis was still present and jumped when he tapped her from behind. “Don’t do that,” she squeaked. “You nearly gave me a heart attack!”

“And you nearly put me to sleep,” he countered.

“Do we really have to go? Better never than late, right?”

“Hah-hah…nice try.” He slipped his arm around hers and guided them through the palace.

As they reached the double gilded doors the guards bowed and allowed them entry. Together they waltzed into the room of veils.
