Old Friends

After an evening of storytelling, eating, and laughing with her family, Kagome decided to check on the Goshinboku.

'Hello, old friend. You’re look like you haven’t changed much. Yeah, I’ve changed quite a bit... Not sure if it’s for the better, though...’ 

“Kagome!” her grandfather broke her away from her musings. “Would you be interested in some sake on this fine evening? If your mother found me drinking it, she would send me to the next life...” Grandpa Higurashi rasped. 

“My lips are sealed,” Kagome giggled, and they spent a happy night remembering and laughing under the sacred tree.
