You Are My Sunshine, My Only Sunshine

“Mom!” Kagome exclaimed, grabbing her mother in a tight bear-hug.

“Kagome! I’ve missed you! Are you eating enough? How’s school? Have you met anyone yet?” Mrs. Higurashi asked in quick succession.

“I’ve missed you too mom! I’m eating plenty, thanks. School’s great. No, I haven’t been seeing anyone, I barely have time to take care of myself!” Kagome giggled without skipping a beat. “Mom, I’m so sorry, I didn’t get you a present, I...”

Mrs. Higurashi cut her off. 

“Kagome, just knowing you are happy and healthy is the perfect gift,” Mrs. Higurashi said, smiling as radiantly as the sun.
