Chapter 185 - The Search

*Witch's Sin* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

Migotoyami knew she shouldn't be doing this, and under normal circumstances, she never would have. When she decided to choose the path of darkness, she knew that others who had done the same would be considered her allies. One did not betray one's allies. This darkness, however, was different. The spider hanyou was more than just dark. He was blacker than black, a monster that even she feared. If his plans were allowed to succeed, the whole world would be affected. She knew she was doing the right thing by helping to bring about his demise, not only for her own safety, but also for the safety of the world.

Naraku was on a quest to rule the world, to rebuild it in his dark image, and just the thought sent shivers down the witch's spine. The pain and suffering that would come with his success was more than she could bear to happen, and so there she stood, staring into a bowl of her own blood once more as she tried to narrow down the spider hanyou's location.

It was more difficult than she expected, but she should have known better. Someone like Naraku, someone with a dark and devious mind and the power of the Shikon jewel, would not leave themselves open. He had to be using spells and seals to hide his location during his time of weakness. She was slowly making progress, narrowing down his location, day by day. She could now sense him to the South.

*Black Key* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

She had one advantage. His incarnations did not rest as he did during the winter. Instead, they were tasked with protecting him, and their less than enthusiastic cooperation left hints to Naraku's location. Kagura would leave him at least once daily to fly in the frigid air before returning. Somehow, she was able to disappear before reaching his lair, so Migotoyami could not simply follow her there. Instead, she had to study the dark magic used to keep his location a secret.

She was getting closer. She could only hope that Lord Sesshoumaru was being patient, because the last thing she wanted was for him to show up demanding results before she had them. Perhaps she should confront the wind witch. It was clear she was not happy with her place in life. Maybe she would be willing to assist in the slaughter of her master. One could only hope. Even if she refused, perhaps she would be flustered enough to forget the magic necessary to keep Naraku hidden when she returned. It was worth a shot.
