Chapter 182 - The Discussion

*Succession* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

Kagome entered the dining hall, followed by two happy and clean children to find that Sesshoumaru wasn't there yet. She took her usual seat, and the taiyoukai arrived a few moments later. He immediately knew something was wrong by the look on her face.

"Is there a problem?" he asked as he leaned down to press his lips to her temple.

"Yeah, there is. Rin's nanny is a bitch," she practically spat.

"Which one?" he asked, somewhat amused by Kagome's rage. She was adorable when she was angry, and he loved the strength of her mothering instincts. She was, in that way, very much like an inu.

"Kyou. She came to get them for dinner and called them brats before she realized I was in the room. You should have seen her trying to backtrack."

Sesshoumaru sighed. "My apologies, Rin," he said to the small girl before returning his attention to his angel. "We have been through a long succession of nannies. It is very difficult to find a demoness that is willing to care for a human child."

"Thankfully we won't be needing one for much longer." When the taiyoukai raised a brow at her, she continued. "Once Naraku is defeated, I'll be taking care of the children."

"And if I desire to take you away for a romantic excursion?"

Kagome smiled, her cheeks flushing pink at the seductive look on the attractive male's face. She couldn't say no to that, now could she? "Well, then, I guess we'll need to find a good one for times like that. We have to find somebody we can trust, especially for when we're out of the palace. What about Jaken? I thought he was good with her. I haven't seen the little guy around lately."

"Rin exhausts Jaken and adding Shippo would probably kill him," Sesshoumaru said with a smirk. "Jaken is currently searching for possible candidates for the position of this Sesshoumaru's assistant. I have decided I need someone to take over the less important, day to day paperwork so that I do not have to spend all of my time in my study."

"Kyou needs to be dealt with,” Kagome said, getting back to the main conversation. "I told her to expect to be called to your study this evening."

"As you wish. Did you have something in mind?"

The miko smirked. "I think she should be the one to take care of your mother.  She can be her personal nanny."

"That sounds appropriate," he agreed. "Consider it done. Inuyasha," he turned his focus to his half-brother. "Do you still wish to walk Lucky now that it has begun to snow, or shall her new nanny attend to that?"

"I've had my fun," the hanyou replied. "Someone else can take over."

Sesshoumaru nodded.

"So, an assistant?" Kagome asked. "You have that much paperwork?"

"I receive dozens of scrolls daily from the various villages in the West. Most are merely updates on food stores and the like; things that I do not need to personally attend to. I did not mind doing so before, but now I have found a better use for my time," he said with a genuine smile directed at his angel. He despised anything that took him away from her for any length of time, and that included pointless busywork. She was far more important, and his assistant would inform him of anything that required his attention.

*Peace of Mind* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

"Well, while you're finding an assistant, I'll be looking for a suitable nanny. Where would I find one of those, anyway? Should I be looking at the regular servants, or would I look outside the palace?"

"A scroll can be sent out to the nearby villages advertising the position."

"Oh, so I can hold interviews! Maybe let the good candidates have a test run to see how they interact with the children."

"Whatever you need to do to be sure the children are being well cared for," Sesshoumaru agreed.

"Do you think any of the existing servants would be interested?"

"I will have Hana ensure that everyone knows you are looking for candidates."

"Hana?" Kagome asked. She had never heard that name before.

"Hana is our head servant. I do not believe you have met her before. I will be sure to introduce you. She ensures that everyone is completing their assigns duties. From now on, she will answer directly to you."
