The Roiling

Chapter 167 - The Roiling *Meditation* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

Conversation about Naraku continued on for quite some time, the group's joy over there finally being an end in sight obvious. Finally, they were ready to turn in for the night, and they said their good-byes for the evening. Inuyasha reached for Lucky's leash, ready to take her outside for her final walk of the evening.

Lucky had spent the entire meal listening in on their conversation while being outraged by the new name they had given her. She hadn't even thought to eat her food, but when the hanyou approached, she realized that she wouldn't have another opportunity to do so until breakfast. She quickly bent and scarfed down the table scraps in her bowl as quickly as possible. Inuyasha waited patiently, amused to see the snooty bitch behaving like the mutt she had become. When she was finished, he unhooked Lucky's leash from under the candle stand and began to lead her outside. He found himself in a much better mood than when dinner had started. He was still aggravated that Sesshoumaru had somehow injured Kagome, and that she wouldn't tell him how, but the knowledge that he would soon be defeating his worst enemy caused that to fade into the background.

"So," the hanyou said with a grin while giving a gentle tug to get the dog moving at his speed. "How do you like the harness and leash Kagome brought you?" He paused as if waiting for an answer before continuing. "You should really be grateful she gives a damn about what happens to you. I know I don't. Her heart's too big for her own good."

The dog snorted, clearly disagreeing with his sentiments. There was no way in hell that she would ever be grateful for the little miko slut that had somehow tricked her son into mating her. If she were to be completely honest, she wished that he never found the girl, not because she had saved Sesshoumaru's life, but because she brought down the barrier. If he had never been able to reenter the West, she wouldn't be in the situation she was in now. No, she would still be Lady of the West, being waited on hand and foot while everyone walked on eggshells out of fear. Those were the days, and she would do anything to get them back. Anything.

Coming out of her thoughts, Lucky found that they had already made it outside. Her son was right. Snow was coming. She could scent it in the air. She mentally growled. As if things weren't bad enough, soon she was going to have to wade through snow to relieve herself! She wondered momentarily if Sesshoumaru and Kagome would decide that she had behaved well enough to be allowed to leave her room and roam the palace before realizing that she had begun thinking of herself as a house pet. She had no reason to behave as anyone else desired her to. She was the Western Lady, damn it! Still, if she were to ever have an opportunity to take out the miko bitch, she would have to do just that.

Inuyasha watched as the dog squatted and peed before standing proudly. She began to head back toward the palace, and he laughed. "Still fighting it, Lucky? We both know you need to go. If you keep holding it in, it'll eventually come out on its own. You really wanna accidently shit yourself? Not only will no one clean it up, but you'll probably get it all in your fur, and I, for one, am not giving your ungrateful ass a bath." When she merely glared at him, the hanyou rolled his eyes. "I don't know how you're still managing to eat without puking it back up. Where are you finding the room?"

Seeing that she had no intention of taking the bait and giving him some kind of response, Inuyasha fell silent as he headed back to her room. When they arrived, he led her inside and closed the door before unclipping the leash from the harness.

"This thing stays on. If I were you, I wouldn't try and get it off. You might strangle yourself. Then again, go for it. It'd save Sesshoumaru a lot of trouble if you just died."

Lucky leapt onto the shredded mattress and sat with her back to the hanyou that was the bane of her existence, hoping he would just go away. The sound of the door opening and closing told her her wish had been granted, but then she realized that she was once more completely alone. The dog lay down with a huff. She closed her eyes and tried to imagine that she was back in her humanoid form. The former Lady of the West fantasized about how she would get her revenge on everyone who had wronged her over the last few days. Thoughts of vengeance were the only thing that kept her mind off the roiling discomfort of her stomach. The hanyou was right. She couldn't hold out much longer.
