The inuyoukai walked beside his mother, her leisurely pace grating on his nerves – the bitch knew he desired to see Kagome quickly, so she purposefully took her time. Although it was partly in consideration of his ward, who was skipping along in front of them joyfully, cooing over the flowers she saw and the prospect of meeting the miko again.

Sesshoumaru frowned slightly. Clearly Rin had no reservations about seeing her fellow human… But what about his own feelings? It just didn’t feel natural to be led to her, unknowing of her condition or what motives his mother had. This lack of decision-making on his part was unnerving and frustrating. Nevertheless, there were no other alternatives, save levelling the forest in the hopes of finding the miko himself. He hadn’t even been on the right track, apparently, since Lady Tashio was leading him in a completely different direction to his routes.

The sun had dipped from its zenith to hover just above the horizon, its brilliant rays illuminating their surroundings in a final burst of glory before the advance of night. Rin’s skipping had stopped a while ago, her small legs to tired to continue the action for such an extended period of time and her stomach was beginning to growl.

Just as he was about to call for them to halt travelling so he could hunt, a flicker of reiki tickled along his yoki, and his eyes darted to the demoness beside him. Her gaze snagged his, the smug mischief dancing in those golden depths accentuated by the small smirk tugging at her painted lips.

“Isn’t it magnificent?”

Silently, the Western Lord agreed with her words. Kagome’s spiritual energy was writhing, her emotional turmoil obvious to those who could sense the massive power emanating from her being. Probing it gently, the daiyoukai could feel the effort the miko was exerting to keep it from lashing out at the kitsune accompanying her. So the boy had found her, Sesshoumaru mused.

With nary a word between them, both inu strode forward, eager to see the human. Rin hummed happily to herself as she followed along a few steps behind, just glad to be with her lord.
