An Attractive Girl and the Gorgeous Demon

A/N: Please review! It's strange to not know whether people like this drabble series or detest it. 

Prompt: Kingdom (Week 1)

Sesshoumaru stared at the miko, privately enthralled in the story she was telling the children. Apparently a monstrous beast- who was actually a cursed human- fell in love with a beautiful girl and attempted to win her affections to return him to his humanity. 

"And when she thought all was lost, he started to change; the fur faded away and the claws disappeared to leave a handsome young man. He embraced Belle and thanked her, before asking for her hand in marriage. Her father agreed, pleased that his precious daughter was marrying the prince, who clearly loved her. Within a week they were married, and his subjects adored their new queen; who ruled beside her husband for many happy years. The end."

The taiyoukai blinked, taken aback by the unsatisfactory ending.

"Did they have any children Kagome-san?" The miko smiled at Rin before shrugging.

"I don't know Rin, the tale ends there, but I like to think that they had lots of wonderful kids just like you."

"And me!" Shippo piped in.

"Yes, and you too!" Kagome agreed, laughing.

"Miko, why tell the story if it is not finished? This Sesshoumaru would very much like to know more about their kingdom. Surely there would have been some dissension amongst the subjects- after all, they must suddenly accept this ruler who neglected them for many years. Do you not find that strange?"

The young woman looked at him straight-faced for a few seconds before closing her eyes in frustration. Of course he would over-analyze the whole thing! Opening her eyes and fixing the annoying demon with a stare, she attempted to explain.

"The point of me telling this story was to provide some light entertainment; it has no purpose past that. Of course, you can discern whatever you want from it, but I hardly think that Beauty and the Beast can be improved by adding an alternate ending."

Picking up her bottle, Kagome had just started drinking when Rin spoke.

"I think it's just like you and Sesshoumaru-sama!"

Choking on her water, Kagome glanced at Sesshoumaru, wiping the liquid from her face whilst trying to hide her growing blush.

He studied her intently for several seconds before standing and leaving the clearing.

Looking back at Rin, who was now re-enacting the 'transformation scene' with Shippo, Kagome couldn't decide which was worse; the fact that she had just looked like an idiot in front of Sesshoumaru, or the fact that he hadn't said anything.
