She hurt. Kagome stared at her shaking hands, unsure of how to stop shivering. The small yet spiky pebbles under her knees alerted her to the fact that she was slumped on the forest floor, in the same spot she had been standing in when Sesshoumaru had left her. The young woman's heart clenched, breath catching in her throat as a fresh wave of pain engulfed her, threatening to spill the tears pooling in the corners of her eyes.

Jaw tightening, she swiftly quenched the self-pity rising within her- she would not go through this again. Thanks to Inuyasha, she knew how to stay rational when all she wanted to do was run home to the future. Now was not the time to lose herself in her feelings; she was in the middle of dense woodland, without a guide or any provisions.  Thank the Kami that Lady Tashio had insisted on her taking her bow and arrows.

A splash on her palm broke Kagome from her reverie. Instinctively, she wiped her eyes, only to realise that she wasn't crying. With a groan, the miko raised her face to the sky and her effort was rewarded with more splashes, which quickly became a steady downpour.

"Why sky? Why would you do this? I'm the one who should be crying." Kagome paused, thinking. "Or perhaps; since I won't cry, you're crying in my stead? Thank you for the gesture, but I would really appreciate it if you could stop until I found shelter." She paused again, before putting her head in her hands and groaning loudly.

'I've lost it! I'm talking to the sky.

Kagome stood, grateful for the travelling kimono and leggings she had been given, which prevented her from being instantaneously soaked. Re-adjusting her weapons, the miko turned back the way she'd come, intent on reaching the small cave formation she and Sesshoumaru had passed earlier. It was about half a day's walk from her current position. Although it wasn't her home, it would be shelter from the worsening storm, and Kagome couldn't ask for any more than that.
