The border patrol was not going well.

'Actually, the border patrol is fine, it's Sesshoumaru who is being stubborn.'

After he'd caught her, the daiyoukai hadn't spoken a word to Kagome, and clearly wouldn't until she told the truth. It had been five hours of uncomfortable silence since then.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, shouldn't we make camp now? It's getting quite dark, and I don't have night-vision."

For a brief moment, he continued walking, and the miko's heart sank. Was he going to continue ignoring her, and force her tired body to its limit?

Thankfully, he stopped, and sat at the base of the nearest tree. With nary a word, the Lord of the West closed his eyes and shut himself off from his companion. Kagome stared at him, completely flabbergasted.

'Oh, my gosh- he's a little kid! Having a temper-tantrum because I won't give him what he wants.' Sighing, the young woman proceeded to unroll her sleeping mat and gathered her bathroom supplies.

"I'm going to find a stream to wash up in."

Sesshoumaru didn't respond, and so with heavy spirits, the human left their small base in search of running water. Although she didn't want to admit it, Sesshoumaru's refusal to acknowledge her really stung. Over the months she'd spent in his company, Kagome had seen her old enemy in a new light. He wasn't the emotionless, heartless, walking-block-of-ice Inuyasha had led her to believe he was, but rather a proud, intelligent and sensitive man- erm... demon; whom she considered a friend.

Returning to their campsite quite some time later (the stream had been quite far), the miko noted that the inuyoukai hadn't moved an inch. Climbing into her blankets, she flashed Sesshoumaru a brilliant smile.

"Goodnight Sesshoumaru-sama!"

Silence met her cheery exclamation, and Kagome's mood dimmed. He was only a few metres from her, but there may as well have been a mountain between them.
