Unexpected

Prompt: Bathe (Week 20)

A nice soak in the hotsprings would calm her down. Kagome breathed in the warm steam as she lowered herself into the water. It had been five days since she screamed at Sesshoumaru, and the miko had resolutely been avoiding him since then. She told herself it was because she was angry at him for his derogatory comment (and she was!), but it was really because she was mortified. 'Why did I have to shout that at him? Gosh I need to think before I open my mouth!'

Picking up her small buff-puff, Kagome was just about to start scrubbing when she heard the door open.

"Hello?"

The steam muffled her voice in the enclosed space, and she sunk into the water, sumbmerging herself entirely. 'What if it's Sesshoumaru?' Kami, she knew she would scream if the daiyoukai made an appearance while she was bathing. Coming back up for air, the young woman jumped back in fright when a pair of large brown eyes met hers.

"Ohayo Kagome-san! Rin would like to wash with you- is that okay?" 

"Sure! Just let my heart stop pounding first." Kagome muttered. 

The two washed then, doing each other's backs, and Rin exclaimed over the cute, fuzzy buff-puff. Done with the necessities, the two ningen sat in the warm water, enjoying the calm atmosphere. Rin looked up at Kagome's face, studying her sweet features and bright blue eyes. She was really pretty. 

"Kagome-san?"

"Yes Rin?"

"Why won't you talk to Sesshoumaru-sama?"

The miko's eyes snapped open, her head whipping around to stare at the small girl.

"Why do you ask that, Rin?"

"Because Rin noticed that you are never together anymore."

Standing up, she leaned in and whispered in the older girl's ear, "Please be patient with him Kagome-san; he is very stubborn, but he will change."

With a smile, Rin climbed out of the the confines of the pool and quickly dressed before saying goodbye, leaving a shell-shocked Kagome in her wake.

Dazedly, she left the water and started to dress. 'From the mouths of babes...'
