A/N: Sorry if the character's are OOC. I'm a little busy at the moment, but I couldn't resist writing this.

Prompt: Statue (Week 18)

Inuyasha looked the same as ever, sporting his fire-rat haori and messy hair. 

Kagome smiled. "Hey 'Yasha, how've you been? How's Kikyo?" 

Her friend embraced her, eagerly snuffling her neck. Kagome giggled, quickly utilising the opportunity to cop a feel of the hanyou's fluffy ears, laughing outright when he squirmed in pleasure whilst simultaneously tried to escape her hands. Pulling back, the two just looked at each other before Inuyasha answered her enquiries.

"I've been good Kags, repairing things in the village and patrolling the forest- we had a couple of youkai, but they were no match for me. Kiyo's much better- she and the old hag are catching up on all they missed."

The miko gasped. "Inuyasha! You shouldn't call Kaede that! She's your sister!"

"Keh, I can call the old hag whatever I like!" 

The two continued to bicker playfully, oblivious to their audience. Sesshoumaru and Lady Tashio watched the reunion- the latter with some amusement. Sesshoumaru on the other hand, had been as still as a statue from the moment Kagome had greeted his half-brother, his eyes narrowing. 

Was this not the hanyou who had betrayed her affections numerous times, the boy who caused her grief and tears, the whelp who had made her question her her self-worth? Why was she embracing him? It made no sense.

"That mangy wolf came sniffin' around for you today. He buggered off when he figured you weren't around though."

Both of the on-looking daiyoukai blinked in surprise when Kagome's ki spiked and her irritation rose. "When will he give up? Can Kouga really not see that Ayame is waiting for him?" She said exasperatedly.

"Actually, they're mated now- that's why he for you; to-" Here Inuyasha adopted the wolf's gruff tone- "apologise that he couldn't mate you, 'cause honour bound him to Ayame, but that you would always be 'his woman'". His voice reverted back to normal, "Then I told him you were with Sesshoumaru and he left." 

Kagome seemed both happy and pissed off. "Well, I'm happy for Ayame but Kouga is just something else."

Lady Tashio stepped forward then, gracefully interrupting the conversation. "Whilst it is wonderful that we have a visitor, perhaps we should reconvene in the sitting room."

The two friends agreed, continuing their discussion as they left the gardens, Sesshoumaru watching them with a calculating gaze.

Lady Tashio surveyed the stiff form of her son and chuckled. He tore his gaze from the empty doorway to look at his mother, the question clear in his eyes.

"Jealousy does not become you, son."
