Abracadabra

Prompt: Magic

Word Count: 416

"He must be some form of sorcerer, posessor of unearthly magics... There is no way a mere human could confound this Sesshoumaru."

Kagome rolled her eyes for the sixth - no, make that seventh - time in two minutes. At this rate they would fall out of her head within the hour.

"Perhaps he had a demon asisstant behind the curtain; that would explain such ease with the tricksome powers displayed before so many humans... Humans, of course, are quite gullible so it is not completely out of the realm of possibilty that it was mere illusory magic...

Eyes widening, Kagome placed an incredulous hand on the dog-demon's shoulder. He was taking this far too seriously.

"Sessh - don't sweat it. Whatever you come up with, I can gurantee you that it won't be the method used."

A glare was her only response.

For the eigth time since coming out of the mall three and a half minutes ago, Kagome rolled her eyes. His glare only intensified. With nary a word, Sesshoumaru spun on his heel, and strode back towards the bustling entrance.

The miko threw her hands up in exasperation, before setting down her heavy shoulder bag and resolving to wait for her irritating lover to return. With any luck, no one would be maimed or verbally threatened - but she wasn't holding out hope.

What else could she have expected from the daiyoukai though? He made it his business to understand how anything and everything functioned (and by everything, she meant everything; the young woman was never going to live down the mortification of Sesshoumaru asking an obese tourist how they could support so much excess fat on their weak human bones), so it was no wonder he wanted to know how a mall magician's card tricks worked.

A few minutes ticked by, and just when Kagome was considering going back to fetch her wayward puppy, he strolled out of the electric doors towards her, smugness oozing out of every pore. She waited until he was once again next to her before asking,

"So was it a hidden demon? Or let me guess - he's a direct descendent of someone we both know?"

A smirk tilted the male's lips. "No."

"So he's actually a sorcerer then?"

"No."

A sigh burst out of her lips, "Come on, just tell me!"

Sesshoumaru's chuckle was incredibly annoying, but it was nothing compared to his condescending answer;

"A magician never divulges their secrets, Kagome. Didn't you know?"

She was going to strangle him.
