"Kagome, what is that awful smell?"

The young woman stopped admiring herself in the mirror long enough to turn to her lover, who was currently glaring at her from his place ensconced in their bedsheets. He looked like a giant demonic marshmellow, due to his considerably long silver hair being spread around him in what could only be described as a mushroom cloud.

"I don't know, Sesshoumaru. What does it smell like?" Her tone was wry- she knew already were he was going with this, after all, he had been making digs at her new boots for the past four days.

"Like the suffering and untimely deaths of young animals for the horrific cycle known to humanity as fashion." The daiyoukai's eyes flashed as he tried to make her feel guilty for wearing the rich, brown shoes.

Kagome barely contained an aggravated sigh, knowing he would just dissect the reasons for her mood if she slipped up. He wasn't upset that she had boots made from calf-skin, no; he was upset because she had received them from her long-time admirer, Hojo. It was jealousy, plain and simple, but since he was too much of a dolt to just say that that was the 'cause for his moodiness, she would continue to feign ignorance until he tired of insulting her footwear, Plus, they were actually quite comfortable! Although she herself did not agree with the murder of the innocent young cow that went into them, there was no point in remaining upset now that the shoes were actually on her feet.

"Well then, I guess you'd better throw out your leather jackets if the smell is beginning to bother you this much."

The inu growled loudly, and the miko finally lost it.

"Fine! If you hate these shoes so damn much, I will get rid of them- but then YOU have to provide a replacement."

Sesshoumaru smiled victoriously, thinking that he had triumphed over Kagome's inordinate love for objects provided by his rival in her affections. He willingly agreed; and they set off to the shopping complex not far from her apartment.

Within minutes, Kagome was smiling manically and Sesshoumaru was regretting his naivety. He should have known that if she suggested a resolution, it would always play in her favour.

Her new shoes- a pair of ankle-breaking, sky-scraping, high-heeled monstrosities in the most obnoxious bubblegum pink he had ever set eyes on- were being proudly strutted on his female companion's dainty feet, whilst the price tag weighed heavily on his mind (and credit card).

There had been so many zeroes!
