Prompt: Guitar

Word Count: 413

“I desire that instrument, Kagome.”

Said woman craned her neck to see past the tall demon at whatever he had set his great big inu heart on this time. The miko practically felt her eyes bug out of her skull when a shiny, deep crimson electric guitar with baroque style carvings on the body came into view. In the back of her mind, she couldn’t help but think that he had great taste, but that thought was drowned out by the rational – and much larger - side of her mind as it looked at the extensive price tag. If she were to buy him this guitar – which he probably wouldn’t even learn how to play because it was just a passing whimsy – it would set her back by five months earnings.

As she looked at her bright eyed and hopeful faced lover, Kagome knew that she was making the right choice.

“No.”

Sesshoumaru’s golden eyes widened as he slowly turned his head to stare blankly at her.

“Pardon?”

“I said ‘no’.”

“Woman, you clearly do not understand. I want this instrument.

“And you clearly don’t understand that I am not getting it for you.”

Several seconds of tense silence passed as the two glared at one another.

Abruptly, Sesshoumaru’s expression cleared into its usual passive mask and he stood up from his intimidating lean.

“Fine.”

“What?” Kagome felt confused. What the hell had just happened? Had Sesshoumaru just given in?

“This Sesshoumaru will buy it for himself.”

Kagome’s mouth fell open as the inuyoukai turned and walked into the music shop, the bell above the door chiming as it closed. Picking up her dignity from the scattered heap on the floor it had become, the miko walked into the store, amused to see her lover demanding the instrument from the cashier and being refused.

When his irritated gaze swung towards her, Kagome smirked openly. Oh, how the mighty had fallen.

“And how are you going to do that without any money?”

Sesshoumaru opened his mouth to make a retort, but no sound came out, and he growled before storming from the premises, his face like thunder. Kagome turned back to the slightly scared male cashier and said matter-of-factly,

“Sorry about that, he just doesn’t seem to understand the exchange of money for goods. I’ll make sure he doesn’t come back and steal the guitar later.”

With a jaunty wave, she also left, laughing to herself at the look on the poor man’s face.
