Life in Edo

Disclaimer: This story contains spoilers! So to those who have not watched all of Inuyasha, including the final act, turn away now if you dont want to ruin it for yourself :D I do not own Inuyasha.

Also, this is my first fanfiction, so please be nice to me *puppy eyes* I want to be clear also, its going to have a bit of a slow start just because Im taking to story EXACTLY from where the manga/anime ended off, with the realist probability that Kags ends up with Inuyasha. BUT do keep in mind that this is a Sesshomaru x Kagome pairing, so I'll try to make the beginning part quick-ish xD So read and enjoy you beautiful people

Epilogue

Looking around me, it was a beautiful fall in the feudal era Japan, the leaves were in their full glory, burning with a life that was and will be. Time has passed quickly, it’s been a good year and four months since I left my home 500 years in the future behind, and I admit that I miss my family and friends every day, especially my mother, there is so much I wish I could tell her. But life wasn’t bad besides missing my future home, I enjoy living with Inuyasha and my adoptive son Shippo, in our cute hut here in Edo, with our friends and their growing family, and my small but growing baby in my belly. It was all perfect, until this day.. the day that I died, and everything I knew had come to an end.

Life in Edo

Their hut was built on the top of the eastern hilltop, with a great view of the rest of the village they so loved and cared for. A new fence bordering the property, built keeping in mind for the soon to be trouble maker, a five month pregnant Kagome’s mouth twisted ruefully as she hung up fresh laundry on a line with a certain hanyou at her side bickering with her, “ Kagome… Kaaagooome… KAGOME!” she sighed trying to keep her cool, “For the last time Inuyasha, I need to do something! I can’t just stay in the house for the rest of this pregnancy, or your baby will be born as a potato." She looked over her shoulder to glare at her mate who was standing behind her with his hands full of the rest of the laundry, his face showing his usual stern concern.

Kagome giggled at the sight of him like that, he had become very protective of her since they found out that she was pregnant with their first ‘pup’ as he called it.  “I just don’t want you to hurt yourself, or our pup. Knowing how clumsy you are, you should just take it easy. I can do this kind of stuff faster than you humans anyways.” he said, a sort of playful cockiness in his voice.

She raised her eyebrows and grinned proudly “Well this human can handle this much without hurting herself, besides didn’t you say you were going to help the villagers built a hut for Shiori and her mother?”. He grabbed the rest of the laundry she had set aside “Keh! That lecher can help them, he says he needs a break from those little twin terrors anywho.” She laughed “Well that’s not very fair to Sango, she needs a break too.”

 Kagome was thoughtful for a moment and looked off into the distance to where the hut being built was. It came as somewhat of a surprise that the half bat demon girl they met three years ago decided to move here with her mother, Shizu, but then again it seems a sort of rumor was going about that Edo welcomed human, demon, and hanyou alike, as long as they were peaceable.

The rumor came out as a double edged sword, it was nice to see more hanyou around, unafraid of the usual treatment they would receive in other villages of human and demon alike, Kagome and Kaede made sure of that.

There were also many human-demon couples that came to settle, finally finding a place where their love was accepted and they could begin families without fear for their childrens safety. All these things were really nice in her opinion, but then there were those whose opinion differed.

The village would get attacked time and time again by demons and humans who thought the village of Edo was an abomination, they thought that the idea of humans and demons living in peace would bring calamity from their gods, or shame upon the traditional ways of Japan. That didn’t matter to them though, they were all happy and defended their homes, family, and dreams with everything they had.

Her thoughts were cut off when her stomach grumbled and she was reminded of the fact that being pregnant with a demon's child even if only half, made her hungry, all the time! Seriously, she would even out eat Inuyasha, and he would jokingly tease her that if she kept eating so much she wouldn’t fit in their hut anymore and she would have to live outside. That would upset her, only because the hut Inuyasha had built for them was quite large, when they first started on it she had insisted on it not being as such and that it wasn’t necessary, but there was no winning against the one building it. Inuyasha wanted to give her a home like the one from her time, even considering the location of being near a hot spring, so she could always have her warm bathes that she loved.

Inuyasha had heard her stomach growl and was already prepared, pulling out a cloth wrapped bundle from his fire rat robes’ sleeve, “Keh, see wench all this work is making the pup hungry, I got you your favorite, well… more like the pup's favorite.” He smirked and handed her the neatly wrapped bundle, which she happily opened right away, already knowing what the little bundle had in store for her, dried and seasoned elk meat.

 Walking over to sit under a large shady maple tree by the front of their hut she started munching on the strips of meat with Inuyasha coming to sit next to her. “I can’t seem to get enough of this stuff, one of these days I just might turn into a dog, and it’s all going to be your fault for feeding my addiction.” She stopped talking to continue eating, Inuyasha took this opportunity to lift her and put her on his lap, she didn’t protest and sighed in content when he started rubbing her belly and nuzzling her neck, sniffing her with large inhales and slow exhales. They were both at peace.
