Bleeding In Secret by Rosalynn

Family Secret

Kagome looked up at Sesshomaru and gave him a weak smile. She could feel his saliva attacking the infection throughout her small body. She never thought in all her life that Sesshomaru would say that she was his friend, so she just had to ask. He hadn't even noticed she was awake.

"Lord Sesshomaru."

Sesshomaru immediately gave her his full attention. "You should be resting, miko, not engaging in conversation."

Kagome immediately bristled. "Why can't you just use my name?" Sesshomaru merely shrugged. Kagome decided to let it go for now. She was too tired to fight with him at the moment. She closed her eyes and went back to sleep so that her body could heal itself along with Sesshomaru's saliva.

Three Days Later-

Kagome woke up feeling better than she had for a very long time. She sat up and took a good look around. She was in a room. She heard the shuffling of paper and turned her head to see Sesshomaru with his back to her, doing paperwork. She had to stifle a giggle. This was a sight that she personally thought was hilarious. Sure he was the Western Lord and all, but it was still funny to actually see it happening. She looked at her arm and realized that there wasn't even a scar left. Well that was good news in any case. She stood up and walked over to Sesshomaru.

"What are you working on, may I ask?" Sesshomaru didn't even spare her a glance, but just kept on working. She sighed. "Thank you for helping me, Lord Sesshomaru." That one got a response.

"Hn. Yet you shall remain here until your strength comes back."

"Well I can see the reasoning in that, but I also do not like being cooped up in one place for a long time. My strength may take days, maybe even weeks to return. I would go insane staying in one room during that time! Please do not confine me."

"You may go to this Sesshomaru's private garden, but no where else."

Kagome gave him a brilliant smile. "Thank you." She went and sat back down on the bed. "By the way, Lord Sesshomaru, whose room am I in?" He looked back at her and gave her a pointed look. "Yours?" He nodded and went back to his work. Kagome sighed. She was going to be immensely bored for a while, but Kagome supposed it was better than being numb to the world while trying to stay alive. She was going to have to find a way to entertain herself. She looked around the room, but found nothing that could entertain her. That wasn't surprising considering to whom the room belonged to. She looked back over at Sesshomaru and decided it wouldn't hurt to ask. "Sesshomaru-sama?"

"Hn?"

"You wouldn't happen to have any extra ink, a writing utensil, and a sheet of paper would you?" Sesshomaru gestured to the items that she requested on the side of his makeshift desk. She smiled and got up and retrieved them. Then she sat back down and began.

By the time night fell, she was putting the finishing touches on her drawing. Sesshomaru put down his own pen and stood. Kagome, too engrosed in her drawing did not notice when he sat down beside her and looked over her shoulder at her drawing.

"Is that your family, Miko?"

Kagome jumped a little, before she added the finishing touch and set the pen down. She had perfected her drawing skills over the time after the well closed. She looked at Sesshomaru. "Yes. This is my grandfather, my mother, and my brother." She pointed to each one in turn. She had never spoken to Sesshomaru about her family.

Sesshomaru noticed that her father wasn't in the picture, and that she was talented. "Where is your father?"

A grim look overcame her features and a single tear slipped from her control. "He died in a car accident when I was very young. Not long after Souta, my brother, was born. I don't really remember him, but mother says that he used to spend a lot of time with me."

"Do you remember what he looked like?"

Kagome shook her head no. "I have only seen pictures of him. My family has a secret. My father was a demon. His name I do not know. Mother never once spoke it. He had a star in the middle of his forehead, much like your moon, but his was golden. I have one too, by what mother says, but a spell was put on me when I was very young and I do not know how to break it. I could be a half-demon for all I know. It is strange though that I have powers of purification since my father was a full-blooded demon. I wish I knew. My mother told me about it not long after I came here."

Sesshomaru was shocked to say the least. He knew the Lord of the Southern Lands had gone missing some time ago. No one had known where he went, but now the answer was sitting right before him. This was Aoi's daughter. Aoi had been friends with his father. They were also inu demons, but they were the rare black inus. His father had taught him a way to break the spell that Kagome was talking about. His father had told him that he would need to know it later on in life. His father had been right. He would help his friend. Also, he knew that she was going to need help with her inner beast and controlling some new found powers. The Higurashi's were well known for having reki along with youkai. He wouldn't make her go through this on her own.

"Kagome. This Sesshomaru shall help you. Lay down, close your eyes and relax. It might be a while before you wake up again."
