My ego luxuriates in the knowledge that she would rather remain in my company than return to her comrades. Even if she only seeks to stay with me to distract herself from Inuyasha’s perfidy, I still feel as if I have achieved a small victory.

I express my capitulation with a negligent “Hn;” rewarded again with a beatific smile before she recommences her tale.

The yawning continues, and there are lulls in the tale as the increasingly more addled girl tries to think of the proceeding part. 

After one such pause I feel a sudden weight land on my shoulder.
