I have been self-reliant for so very long, setting myself apart from those around me; never needing anyone.

Therefore it is somewhat shocking for one such as I, to realize how integral this little human has become to my continued peace of mind.

She sits at my side so trustingly; her enthusiasm readily apparent as she points out stars and explains their various meanings and myths. She does not seem to mind that I merely listen without any participation of my own.

But then she unlike so many others, who have sought my company and favor, expects nothing of me.
