Not long after a soft melodic laugh permeates the air, and relief and pride combine softening my features into a genuine smile.

That is until a gasp echoes across the small clearing. Reluctantly breaking my gaze away from Kagome I lower my eyes until they come in contact with the terrified orbs of my retainer, his already bug eyes seeming even larger as they stare fixedly at my mouth.

A barely discernable but constant stream of mumbling, which consists mainly of smile and death, underscores the rising scent of terror emanating from the imp.
