“Kagome, what’s going on between you and Sesshomaru?” Sango asked, putting her jacket on as she shut her locker.

“What? Nothing! Why?” Kagome asked, going to her locker.

“Well, the way he’s been looking at you lately… plus the way you’re always blushing around him. Something tells me that this drink date was more than what you’re letting on.” Sango glared, sitting down on the bench in the fitting room as Kagome entered her lock combination.

“Nothing happened…” Kagome lied, opening her locker. She stared at a white envelope that was sitting on top of her clothes, one that she didn’t remember being there this morning. Kagome reached for it, seeing a small ‘S’ in the bottom left hand corner.

“What’s that?” Sango asked, hovering behind Kagome. Kagome jumped not expecting the proximity, hiding the envelope.

“N-nothing!” Kagome stammered, putting the envelope in her shirt.

“It sure doesn’t look like nothing. Let me see!” Sango exclaimed, reaching under her shirt for the letter. Grinning, Sango took the shirt and lifted it over Kagome’s head, taking it off.

“Sango! Give me back my shirt!” Kagome yelled, trying to fight her friend for her shirt back.

“Not until you give me that letter!” Sango yelled, tossing the shirt on the floor and jumping Kagome. Kagome fell on her back, holding the letter closer to her bust. Sango tackled Kagome, straddling her with her legs on either side of Kagome.

“I can’t! I don’t even know what it is!” Kagome hollered, grabbing Sango’s shirt and trying to wrap her arms in the fabric. She failed and only managed to rip her shirt. Sango huffed, ripping it all the way off so she could use her arms again.

“Ladies, what are you-“ Miroku said, opening the door after hearing the shouts from the kitchen. His eyes widened as he saw Kagome and Sango fighting each other topless, with Sango straddling Kagome. Falling to his knees, his clapped his hands together.  “Dear Kami, thank you for answering my prayers.”

“Get out!” Kagome and Sango yelled, Kagome holding Sango’s hands from her. Sango reached behind her and took her shoe off, tossing it at the lecherous man. He fell to the ground, yelping in pain.

“Sesshomaru, help a fellow man!” Miroku called, a hand outstretched to his co-worker. Peering inside, Sesshomaru chuckled as he watched the two girls fighting. Sango noticed Sesshomaru’s presence and stopped, her eyes locking with his.

“Sango! Would you-“ Kagome started, then stopped as she looked to what Sango was so captivated by. She blushed as she saw Sesshomaru staring at them, his eyes mischievous and suggestive. “Sesshomaru…”

“Miroku, I do believe this situation is under control.” Sesshomaru chuckled, grabbing the man by his collar and dragging him out.

“But moooooom!” Miroku protested, holding the door as he refused to leave such a wondrous sight.

The door closed as Sesshomaru continued to drag him out of the locker room. Sango huffed, taking Kagome’s shirt and putting it on.

“Look, Kagome. I don’t like how secretive you’ve suddenly become. Since when couldn’t you trust me? When did he become more important than me, Miroku, or even your family?”

“Sango, that’s not-“

“Whatever. Since you ripped my shirt, I’m wearing yours. When you want to be honest with me, give me a call.” Sango opened the door, leaving Kagome half naked in the locker room confused.

--

Kagome sighed, sitting in her living room with the crinkled letter unopened in her lap. Opening it, she wondered if it was enough to almost ruin her friendship with Sango. Inside the letter was an address and a time, along with another beautifully written ‘S’ in the bottom right corner.

Kagome looked at the clock, seeing as she had three hours to be there and it wasn’t too far away, decided to jump in the shower and wash the smell of food off of her.

--

Sesshomaru finished setting up the table with the dinner he prepared, looking to the clock. ‘She should be here any minute.’ He grinned, flicking his silken tresses over his shoulder. Hearing the chimes of his doorbell, he headed towards his front door, opening it slowly.

“Kagome…” he softly spoke, admiring the attire she chose. She wore a short, black cocktail dress that revealed her milky white shoulders. She walked past him, her red painted lips turning up into a smile as she entered his house. He watched her walk past him, almost groaning when she did.

Her dress was backless.

Seeing the way he had decorated the house and himself, she was glad she wore a dress. Candles illuminated the house, and it was lavishly colored in deep crimson reds and golds. He led her to the dining room, where his carefully prepared dinner awaited the two.

“Oh, wow… you did all of this?” Kagome asked, feeling a bit spoiled to the lengths he had gone through to appease her.

“This one takes it is to your liking?” He spoke, his deep timbre reverberating through her being as he was towering behind her. Kagome spun, tilting her head upwards to press a chaste kiss to his lips.

“Thank you, Sesshomaru.” She smiled, feeling a little better at the turn of the day’s events. Sesshomaru chuckled, walking towards one of the placements and pulling the chair out for her. Smiling, Kagome sat in the chair, blushing when he pushed it in for her.

“Thank you,” she said, looking at the spread. This wasn’t like the Sesshomaru she knew. He was being sweet and courteous, when she was used to his wild and animalistic side.

Sitting down, Sesshomaru reached for the wine bottle he sat on the table earlier, holding has hand towards Kagome. She looked from his hand to the wine glass in front of her, smiling as she handed him her cup. He took the glass from her, filling it with the red wine. Handing her the glass back, he filled his own.

“Did you have trouble finding my home?” Sesshomaru asked, tasting his wine, then setting it back on the table.

“No, actually. I had a friend that used to live over here.” Kagome replied, carefully drinking her wine.

“I’m glad. Please, don’t wait on my account.” Sesshomaru gestured towards their plates. Kagome nodded, taking her fork and trying some of the chicken he had arranged.

“Oh wow, this is really good, Sesshomaru. Have you ever thought of pursuing a career as a chef?” Kagome joked, chewing her food before swallowing.

“It’s crossed this one’s mind a few times.” He chuckled, enjoying the company.

--

Sango huffed, sitting in her living room as she waited by the phone for Kagome to call.

“Sango, are you alright?” Miroku asked, sitting next to her and placing a hand on her knee.

“Kagome hasn’t called me yet.” Sango huffed, throwing the phone into the other room.

“Well, you have to give her time. You should know the dating rules. Wait at least two days until-“ He was cut off as she elbowed his stomach.

“You lech! We weren’t having sex! We were fighting!” Sango blushed, turning away from Miroku.

“I wasn’t aware that girls fought with their shirts off. I thought that only happened in-“ She elbowed him once more, blushing even brighter as her thoughts turned more perverted.

“Shut up!”

--

Kagome helped Sesshomaru take the dishes into the kitchen, scraping the remaining food off of their plates and into the garbage, then putting them into the sink.

“That was wonderful, Sesshomaru. It’s so late now… I wish it didn’t have to end.” Kagome spoke, drying off her hands on a kitchen towel.

“The pleasure was all mine, Kagome.” His voice was deep, husky even as he approached her.

“We should… do this again?” Kagome asked, backing into the kitchen counter as Sesshomaru cornered her.

“Hn... I agree.” Was his reply. Kagome gasped as he lifted her, wrapping her legs around his waist.

“Sesshomaru! Wh-what are you doing?!” She yelped, holding onto him as he guided them out of the kitchen and to the door leading to his backyard.

“This one has not yet permitted you to leave, miko.” He growled, passing his small garden and laying her onto a patchy spot of green grass.

Kagome took in her surroundings and gasped, seeing how beautiful his backyard was. It was a waxing moon out, casting a blue glow upon them. Fireflies flew around them, creating little beacons of light. Peonies blossomed in his garden, and a lone cricket could be heard, calling for his mate.

“Sesshomaru…” Kagome gasped, watching as he took of his jacket coat and dress shirt. The moonlight glow shone on his muscled chest and his long, silken hair. Leaning towards the ground, he crawled until he hovered over her. His long hair created a curtain between them and the moonlight. Kagome felt her breath escape her at such a magical sight.

“The night is still upon us, Kagome.”
