A Rare Bloom by kaoruhana

A Sweet Meaning

Snowdrops, Kagome found out, were extremely rare in Japan and were often only found in remote distant areas of Hokkaido or in protected sanctuaries.  Kagome wondered how Sesshomaru had gotten hold of it- did he find it in Hokkaido or in a private garden.

                “Kagome, what’s that?”

Shaking her head Kagome looked down at the flowers resting on her bedroll.  Whoever it was had to have known the exact moment to leave them she thought.  Inuyasha was away scouting the area and Miroku had left to gather firewood.  She and the remaining party members had gone to fetch water.  There was no way that the intruder would have been detected.  Nonetheless Kagome was curious.  She approached the flowers and probed it quickly with her aura and only touched them when she sensed no malicious intent.

“They look like Plum Blossoms.” Sango stated sitting next to her friend.  “Do you know what they are?”

“I think so, hold on.”  Kagome quickly pulled out her textbooks and scanned through one in particular- her history book.  A little while later she exclaimed and Shippo and Sango moved towards her to see what she was pointing at.

“Almond Blossoms!”  She exclaimed before shooting a furtive glance at them.  “But why would he have them?”  Both Shippo and Sango were curious as to who the “he” was but they let it slide for now.  After all, it was high time someone appreciated Kagome for who she was.

"I wonder what they mean though?"  Kagome asked as Miroku walked in.  He asked her casually what she was talking about.

"The Almond Blossoms," Kagome answered, "they either mean enduring sadness or beauty."

"Beauty obviusly," Miroku answerd with his smirk, "after all who would say no to such a beautfiul female?"
