A Rare Bloom by kaoruhana

Norikura Udon

Kagome was sitting in Sesshomaru’s lap in a quiet clearing.  After they had both admitted to loving each other they usually sought out to find a clearing like this when they made camp.  They were never gone too long and were usually within enough of a close distance that Sesshomaru could take them back to camp quickly if he scented danger.  On this particular day as Kagome snuggled into his warmth- it was getting a little chilly now that fall was here- she sat up when she felt Sesshomaru stiffen.

“There is a wolf coming this way.”  Kagome furrowed her brows but relaxed a little when she detected jewel shards.  If her guess was correct, it was Koga.  Sure enough, moments later said wolf appeared in front of her.  What surprised Kagome most though was Ayame barreling into the clearing right behind him.

“There’s my woman, how are you?”  Koga asked with a grin while Ayame writhed.  She’d long since become friends with Kagome but it still irked her to see Koga so smitten with the priestess instead of her.

“Wolf, what is this claim you speak of?”  Sesshomaru demanded hands tightening around Kagome as he spoke.  He knew that Kagome was committed to him wholeheartedly but he didn’t want the wolf snooping around.

“He has none.”  Ayame answered before Koga could.  “And now that’s it’s obvious you two are courting, he should leave her alone.”  The last three words were punctuated with a clear growl.

“Well, whatever.  Look Kagome, I actually came to find you because Kagura showed up on her feather the other day.  She said that we needed to meet her at Mount Norikura a week from now with you guys.  I don’t know if you got the message but it seems the final battle is approaching.”

“Hn, we shall head in that direction then.”  Sesshomaru mused as he helped Kagome up.  “Come let us go to camp and discuss it with the others.”

Kagome was in a state of slight surprise as they continued walking back to camp.  When she had been back home a few weeks ago her friends had told her they were going on a class field trip to Mount Norikura.  They were going to be there in the future at the exact same time Kagome was going to be there.  They were also going to bring back some famous Norikura udon for Kagome.  Smiling Kagome took a deep breath and let it out.  Well, she’d just have to wait a while for those lovely noodles- she didn’t think Norikura’s famous udon were present just yet.

A/N: Prompt: Noodles  Norikura is not famous for udon- it is however famous for being the third tallest mountain in Japan. I used a little bit of creative license here.  And neither Mount Norikura nor Udon noodles belong to me.
