Chapter 57: Furrow

The next morning, Kagome woke up to the sounds of clanking metal and cabinet doors.

In her groggy mind, she barely processed the feeling of the warm blanket over her body before she ducked her head beneath it in order to escape the noises beyond her bedroom door. A moment later, in an attempt to block out the sounds, she rolled over onto her belly and groaned, pressing her face into her pillow. But as the racket continued, she reluctantly fought the urge to scream, and focused on waking up instead.

Slowly, she unfurled her limbs and stretched, sighing happily.
