Chapter 56: Flop

Kagome made her way toward her room, swaying slightly as she went. Rubbing her eyes, her steps were clumsy and disjointed, as if her body was moving in a drunken dance. She would have just crashed on the couch in the living room… Alas, that spot had already been taken–by a man whose name, at this moment, escaped her mind’s clutches.

Hands palmed the walls, seeking balance, before Kagome passed through a familiar doorway and fell onto her bed. Too tired to pull the comforter over herself, the woman curled into a ball and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
