Chapter 249: Guff

There were hushed voices around her.

The tones of the speakers never elevated higher than a few soft murmurs. It was as though they were afraid of being overheard by the only other person in the room: Her.

She felt a tightness at her side where her flesh remained tender, probably wrapped up with new bandages if her hunch was correct. There had to be a reason why she wasn’t lying face down in the wilderness somewhere.

“I know you’re awake, girl. There’s stew over the fire if you’re hungry.”

Caught, Kagome pushed herself up and humbly bowed her head.
