Chapter 233: Grave Confessions

“Kikyou is my ancestor!” The words fell from her mouth faster than she could even think them up. Her eyes blazed, the pain in her side ebbing away with her obvious distraction. Consequences be damned; she wasn’t going to allow some old lady to keep threatening her with an arrow.

Kaede, on her part, seemed to falter at Kagome’s unexpected admission. “Oneesama’s…” Shaking her head in denial, her arms lowered slightly. “Her sacrifice prevented any children.”

“Well, not any that you would’ve known about,” Kagome remarked softly, watching as Kaede’s mask of confusion crumbled into something far more desolate. “Suzume–”
